Don Graham Ministry

Rev. Don Graham is a Revivalist and an Evangelist, yet his heart cry is for revival. Rev. Graham believes if the church will be revived, it can evangelize the world. Rev. Don Graham's heart for revival in the local church is the reason for his focus on Bible teaching and preaching to the local church.

Rev. Don Graham is a highly sought after Bible teacher. The study and teaching of the word of God is the heart of everything that Rev. Graham does. His ministry lives out 2 Timothy 3:15-17. These three verses show that evangelism, revival preaching and discipleship all have their roots in the Word of God.

A WORD FROM "THE WORD"

"Don't Miss the Message"

Isaiah 66:1-2

Text: " ... but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. " (verse 2b)

Isaiah lived in days very similar to ours. His ministry spanned the reign of four different Kings of Judah. He began his ministry during the long and illustrious reign of Uzziah whose days were marked by great prosperity. The decade of the nineties saw America reveling in unprecedented prosperity experiencing the longest running bull market in her history. Early in his career Isaiah experienced the collapse of their financial dreams with the untimely death of King Uzziah. He was driven to meet God out of this crisis (Isaiah 6.) And he did not miss the message. He saw God in His holiness, saw himself in his sinfulness, repented and cried out to God for mercy, was cleansed and subsequently commissioned. Nearing the end of his career it is clear that he not only got the message but never forgot it. In the last chapter of his prophesy he sets the record clear as to whom God will look. God promises to look toward the man who has...

I. A Poverty of Spirit

"...even to him that is poor... " (verse 2b)

The prophet is not speaking of physical poverty. Physical poverty is not tantamount to spirituality. He is speaking of spiritual poverty. Jesus speaks of the same man in His very first beatitude, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:3) The man who recognizes his bankrupt condition toward God garners the pleasure of God. This poor man humbly acknowledges his unworthiness and simply flings himself on the mercy of God knowing he has no merit of his own. Unlike the church at Laodicia who declared, ".../ am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing... " the man who is poor in spirit readily confesses that he is "...-wretched, and miserable and poor and blind and naked. " (Revelation 3:17) It is the man who assumes the place of utter emptiness before God! To such a man will God look.

Don't miss the message!!

II. A Position of Brokenness

"...and of a contrite spirit... " (verse 2b)

Even this is the man who secures the attention of God for "a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou -wilt not despise." (Psalm 51:17) Isaiah is echoing his earlier declaration, "...I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit... " (Isaiah 57:15). God looks toward, God dwells with the broken and contrite man. Such a man, and only such a man is a candidate for revival blessings. "The Lord is nigh them of a broken heart and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." (Psalm 34:18) America has vaunted herself against God in sheer and utter pride. William Bennett, editor of best-selling The Book of Virtues, said of our present situation, "We are dumbing deviancy down." For instance, what used to be called... Disgusting is now call Adult. Modesty is now called Sex-Hang-up.

Chastity is now called Neurotic Inhibition.
Self-indulgence is now call Self-fulfillment.
Moral Irresponsibility is now called Being Freed Up.
Christian Discipline is now called Unhealthy Repression.
Ethical Anarchy is now called the Theology of Liberation.
Living in Sin is now called A Meaningful Relationship.
Perversion is now called An Alternative Lifestyle.
Depravity is now called Creative Self-expression.

And we dare ask God to bless such a nation! He will not and He cannot until there is broken repentance. Years ago Billy Graham said that God will have to judge America or else apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.

Don't miss the message!!

III. The Posture of Fear

"and trembleth at my word. " (verse 2b)

When a man has such reverential awe for God that he trembles at His Word that man receives the look of favor and pleasure from the face of God. When Ezra learned of the dumbing down of behavior among his people, he rent his garment and mantle, plucked his hair out and sat astonished before God. There gathered around him a people who "...trembled at the words of God... " (Ezra 9:3-4) and they proceeded to pour out their hearts to God in broken contrition. The matter was settled as the people repented and "...all the people sat in the street of the house of God trembling because of this matter... " (Ezra 10:9) Would that there would be such trembling before God and His Word today! Oh that we might experience that trembling that God always responds to. As you ask God to bless America will you specifically ask Him to inundate this nation with such deep conviction that we'll tremble before God at His Word. At this writing America is caught up in the throes of fear of biological warfare. The man who rightly fears God need fear nothing or no one else, for He trembles before God!
